My main belongings will be sent as cargo, and I will carry only the essential items in my three suitcases and golf bag. Originally, I planned to send the golf bag as cargo too, but the forwarding agent told me that it could be considered a luxury item and attract additional customs duties if the value is underestimated on the invoice. Therefore, I decided to hand-carry it, despite being an old, inexpensive golf bag.

Note that for international moves to the US, sea freight shipments are typically duty-free, while air freight shipments are subject to customs duties if the value exceeds $800. Therefore, I will receive my boxes in five separate shipments to avoid additional duties.

My flight is at 2:30 pm, so I have reserved a taxi for 10:30 am, which should take around 1 hour and 15 minutes to arrive at the airport. I plan to arrive at the airport about three hours before departure to complete the necessary procedures and work in the lounge.

And then I boarded the airplane. It took off on time without any delay and with a tailwind, the flight arrived about an hour earlier than expected.

정신 없게 정리 했지만 출국할 날을 밝았다. 메인 짐들은 별도로 화물로 보내기로 하였고 (총 9박스) 가서 바로 사용할 물품들만 캐리어에 싸서 가기로 하였다. 캐리어 3개 + 골프백 🙂 골프백도 원래 화물로 부칠 생각이였으나 화물 보내는 포워더에서 얘기 하기를 골프백은 사치품으로 분류되어 낮게 Value를 인보이스에 적어도 관세 담당자 재량에 따라 관부가세를 부과 할 수 있다고 해서 핸디캐리 하기로 했다. 오래되어 엄청 싼 골프백 이지만..

참고로 이주화물은 해상의 경우 면세로 진행되지만 항공으로 보낼 경우 화물 Value가 $800 이하로만 보낼때만 면세로 진행되고 그 이상은 관부가세가 부과된다. 총 보낼 박스는 9박스 지만 관부가세를 피하기 위해 5차레 걸쳐서 받을 예정이다.

14시 30분 비행기라 10시 30분에 IM 택시 예약 해놓고 1시간 15분 정도 걸리니 공항에 도착했다. 넉넉히 3시간 전 쯤에 도착해서 수속 마치고 라운지로 가서 업무를 보았다.

그리고 비행기를 탔다. 딜레이 없이 정시 이륙하였고 뒷바람을 받으면 비행기는 1시간 가량 일찍 도착했다.
